Valentines Day Heart Sun-catcher

Valentines Day Heart Sun-catcher

Valentines day is fast approaching so that means love is in the air. My husband I aren’t usually ones to celebrate this holiday, but now our first daughter is older she is wanting to get into the festivities. We are centering the run up to the day of love around our love for family, friends and faith.

Outside of the love cards my daughter is making for people she cares about, I thought a love themed sun-catcher would be a simple craft for the whole family. Something familiar, as we have done these at other times of the year. Plus I had all the supplies in my stash. Win win!

What you need:

Cut a heart shaped stencil using card stock or construction paper. Tip- draw half of the heart on folded paper and when you cut it and open it up you have your heart. Fold the paper again, draw another half heart inside the first one. Cut the inner section to reveal the perfect border.

Cut a square out of the contact paper larger than the heart border. Separate the contact paper and place the heart border on one sticky side (keep the other sticky side out of the way).

This is where the fun begins. Place a single layer of small tissue paper pieces until the heart is filled.

Carefully place the other sticky contact sheet, to create a sandwich with the tissue paper. Be careful to do this slowly, not to create bubbles.

Cut out the heart around the border, and admire your creation in your window.

This activity was great for the whole family, even my toddler.
