If you’re looking for a great day trip from San Antonio, Fredericksburg (which is only 1-1.5 hours away) should be at the top of your list. Recently, my sisters were over for a vacation and we decided to take an early birthday celebration for one of them to the winery. The day started out pretty cloudy, but the sun eventually came out to give us a gorgeous day.
We began our adventure with lunch at Altstadt Brewery, and let me tell you, the food was fantastic! The star of the show was their crab cakes – they were to die for. The staff were lovely and took the time to show us their beautiful beer garden. We could see why people love spending time there, and we even added it to our list of places to come back to.
Our second location was Augusta Vin Estate Winery, where we indulged in some wine tasting. The drive there was beautiful as we went through the hill country of Texas. It was a scenic journey that added to the fun of our day trip. At Augusta Vin Estate Winery, we got to taste some of the best wines in Texas, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. We were impressed with the quality of the wine and the hospitality of the staff.
All in all, our trip to Fredericksburg winery was a day well spent. From the delicious food to the beautiful views, we had a blast. The next time you’re in the San Antonio area and looking for a fun day trip, we highly recommend you check out the wineries and eateries in Fredericksburg. You won’t regret it!
