Simple Playdough Recipe
This will be your go-to playdoaugh recipe. Taste-safe and fool-proof
Equipment
- Large Mixing bowl
- Small bowl
- Spatula
Ingredients
- 2 cups Plain Flour
- 2 tbsp Cream of Tartar
- 0.5 cups Salt
- 1.5 cups Boiling Water Esnsure that the water is very hot
- Liquid Food colouring Colours of choice
Instructions
- Boil the water and our into a small bowl
- Pour in oil and stir (can use vegetable or coconut oil)
- Add cream of tartar and mix well. In a separate larger bowl, add flour and salt. Stir well
- Add the liquid from the separate bowl with a spatula until it comes to a sticky dough consistency.
- Transfer sticky dough to a floured counter or floured wooden board and begin to knead. Continue to sprinkle a little more flour and knead for approx 3 mins (add a little more flour if it is still sticky)
- Section dough into equal parts depending on the number of colours you are using.
- Add a few drops of food colouring to each ball of dough. Continue to add colour and knead the dough for desired richness. (make sure you wash your hands before moving on to the next colour. It will transfer).
Notes
- Be sure to wash your hands before moving to the next ball of dough and colour. The colour will transfer.
- Store playdough in a zip lock bag or an airtight container (individually). For long shelf life keep it stored in the refrigerator. It will become soft again by the warmth of the hand.
